Every member of Orquesta Afinke attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where they participated in the university’s Latin Ensemble under the direction of Fernando Valencia.

That shared experience became the foundation for Afinke: musicians learning the language of Latin music together, building trust onstage, and carrying that connection into a band of their own.
